Church Update
Dear Members of East Alton First United Methodist Church,
Greetings in the name of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. We hope this letter finds you safe and healthy. It is certainly a time of unknown, and we must continue to take heart that God is in control.
The church council members met on Thursday, September 24th, 2020 to discuss several items, including the reopening of the church building. It was determined at that time, that the church will remain closed for the month of October, and another vote will be recorded in October.
The next church council meeting will take place on Thursday, October 29th at 7:30pm in the fellowship hall. Please wear your mask and practice appropriate social distancing. If you are not comfortable with attending the meeting in person, a Zoom meeting link will be provided to those who wish to attend virtually.
Please be advised that the church will be locked on Sunday mornings, except for those who are helping with the online streaming service. We ask that you please respect this and remain outside of church during the recording of Sunday morning services.
Additionally, due to lack of food pantry foot traffic, the pantry will be temporarily closed during the church closure. All remaining food will be donated to a community pantry in need of food at this time. Our food pantry will be reopened when the church can safely operate with fully opened doors.
As always, feedback and concerns are welcomed. Please know that the safety and best interest of the members and visitors of EAFUMC is the utmost priority.
God’s Blessings,
Council Chairs of East Alton First United Methodist Church
