This passage from Matthew 11:28 brings comfort to me. I have been, and still are, weary and carrying heavy burdens. My heart has this huge hole in it that will never go away. I will learn how to carry on without Joanne in the physical sense; however, she is always with me in my heart.
I think I am still in a state of shock. I am trying to move forward. I know I have many hills to climb and craters to pass. This will take time.
So, East Alton First United Methodist Church congregation, you have accepted Jesus’ gracious will and have brought me comfort and rest. You have pastored the pastor.
I have said to some folk that I am blessed to be the pastor here through this ordeal. You will never know how much comfort you brought to Joanne when you sang and prayed to her twice a day. You may never know how much love, support and comfort you have given me. I am weary and heavy burdened and you have taken the yoke of Jesus and shown your love to Joanne and I.
I thank you, Church. You have shown this weary pastor what it means to love “thy “ neighbor.
God Bless you and may the peace of Christ be with you.
In service to our Lord Jesus Christ.
