Missions
East Alton First United Methodist Church plays an important role in the lives of our community. In case you are not familiar with these roles, here is a list of the many programs and activities that happen because of our church.

The CAS Big Wednesday Program – A after school program for grades K-5 in which we provide a light snack and lots of activities including tutoring. We have the program divided into to two semesters; the first (fall) for grades K-2 and the second (spring) for grades 3-5.

Vacation Bible School (VBS) – A program provided during the summer to teach children all about who God is and his many teachings in a fun and interactive way. We also provide a light dinner with our program and have a backyard party that includes food, games, bounce houses, face painting, and so much more to celebrate the end of the week activities.

Serving Area Kids (SAK) – A program that will fill a hungry tummy when the food provided by the school is no longer available. We provide a prepackaged meal, snack, and drink for children Pre K through grade 8, Monday through Friday during the summer. This past year we also provided lunches for those kids that ride the bus and might not be able to walk up to the school to get their lunch. We provided around 55 lunches everyday all summer long.

Camping Ministries – Our church is part of the Illinois Great Rivers Conference and sends many kids to camp every summer. The camping ministries supports summer programs for spiritual formation in the Christian tradition, which are open to all. This year we had the opportunity to support through prayer and scholarships 19 kids, 2 adults, 7 volunteers (3 adults and 4 youth).

Food Pantry – Where members of the community can come and get some food items from us to help where it is needed.
