Prelude/ Lighting of the Candles Sue Keasler
Opening Prayer: God of majesty and mystery, we stand huddled at the base of the mountain, as you pour forth your power and your splendor. Though we seek your guidance, we shake with fear when you meet us face to face. Bless us with your commandments, and teach us the ways of life and death, that we may be a people worthy of your loving care. Amen.
Passing of the Peace: (L) The Peace of Christ be with you.
(P) And Also with you.
Opening Hymn: The Church is One Foundation UMH #546
CALL TO CONFESSION
2 Timothy 2:19 Nevertheless, God’s solid foundation stands firm, sealed with this inscription: “The Lord knows those who are his,” and, “Everyone who confesses the name of the Lord must turn away from wickedness.” So let us draw near to God with sincerity and confidence, and pray together.
Prayer of Confession: Holy God, like Paul before us, we have ignored Wisdom’s cries. We have blinded ourselves to your truth and trusted our blurred vision. We have put our faith in our own righteousness, rather than in the righteousness of your Son. We have persecuted others out of
ignorance and willful misunderstanding. Help us forsake our pride, that we might have life, and have it abundantly. Amen.
Words of Assurance: The one who created us, seeks us still, beckoning us into union with Christ. Seek God and receive acceptance in Christ’s name.

Doxology
Offertory Prayer: God of never-failing love, you call us from the clouds of your glory to teach us the ways of life and death. When your people suffered from thirst, you satisfied their need with water from
a rock. Receive our gifts this day, O God, that they may satisfy the needs of your people today like water from an ever-flowing stream. Receive our thanks and our praise, our industry and our love, that all might
know your manifold blessings. Amen.
